Go!Zilla Browser Support

Go!Zilla supports many browsers.

FireFox Browser and Go!Zilla

There are three ways that Go!Zilla can monitor and receive downloads from the FireFox browser.
  • Go!Zilla's built-in click-monitoring plug-in
You can enable Go!Zilla's built-in FireFox plug-in from the "Web Browsers/More Browsers" page of the configuration.
Using this plug-in you will be able to simply left-click downloadable links and Go!Zilla will catch them and begin the download.
Advantages: Easiest to setup. Only requires a single click to start each download.
Disadvantages: Difficult to set exceptions if it catches a file it shouldn't or misses one that it should.

  • The Flashgot plug-in
Hopefully a default setting can be added to Flashgot soon. Until then, you can add it pretty easily:
    1. in Firefox, install the Flashgot plug-in
    2. open the Tools--Flashgot--More Options menu.
    3. Click the Add button in the upper right.
    4. Enter the name "Go!Zilla"
    5. For the EXE, pick "C:\Program Files\GoZilla\ToGoz.exe"
    6. For the command line just use: [URL]
Advantages: Easy to use. Works for any link or file type.
Disadvantages: Requires installing the separate plugin and setup.

  • Go!Zilla's clipboard monitor
The Clipboard monitor is quite easy to use with any browser:
Enable the clipboard monitor from the "Web Browsers" page of Go!Zilla's configuration.
Within FireFox (or ANY browser) right-click a link and select "Copy Link Location" to send the download to Go!Zilla.
Advantages: Works the same on almost every browser.
Disadvantages: Requires an extra click before the download begins.
All of these methods can work together without conflicting with each other!

Opera Browser and Go!Zilla

There are several ways that Go!Zilla can monitor and receive downloads from the Opera browser.
  • Go!Zilla's built-in click-monitoring
You can enable Go!Zilla's built-in Opera support from the "Web Browsers/More Browsers" page of the configuration. Using this method, you will be able to simply left-click downloadable links and Go!Zilla will catch them and begin the download.
Advantages: Easiest to setup. Only requires a single click to start each download.
Disadvantages: Difficult to set exceptions if it catches a file it shouldn't or misses one that it should.

  • Go!Zilla's clipboard monitor
The Clipboard monitor is quite easy to use with any browser:
Enable the clipboard monitor from the "Web Browsers" page of Go!Zilla's configuration.
Within Opera(or ANY browser) right-click a link and select "Copy Link Location" to send the download to Go!Zilla.
Advantages: Works the same on almost every browser.
Disadvantages: Requires an extra click before the download begins.

  • Send other files to Go!Zilla from within Opera's Configuration
The Built-in support sets up several of these settings automatically.
You can set up more yourself, if needed. This takes a few steps, but does work well.
    • In Opera's Tools--Preferences menu, go to the "Advanced" tab, then the "Downloads" page. Here it lists all the file types.
(The preferences page is "File Types" in older versions of Opera.)
    • Some file types are hidden if you have not unchecked the "Hide file types opened with Opera" in the upper corner.
If you double-click one, it lets you open it to change how it works.
    • You can set it to "Open with other application" and check the "Pass web address directly to application." That will pass the URL to "ToGoz.exe" to download. You can have it pass the URL to Go!Zilla directly (goz.exe) but Go!Zilla itself is slower to start than the "ToGoz.exe" program.
Normally you would put in: C:\Program Files\gozilla\ToGoz.exe
These methods can work together without conflicting with each other!

Internet Explorer and Go!Zilla

Click Monitoring support for Microsoft's Internet Explorer is built into Go!Zilla.
On the "Web Browsers" page of Go!Zilla's configuration, there are two check boxes to enable click monitoring for Internet Explorer.

  • Replace the Save As Window
This option will use Go!Zilla to download any file that the browser would normally download and save to your computer instead of viewing directly.

  • Catch Downloads based on file types
This is the 'older' method of click monitoring and will work on older versions of Internet Explorer. This is also required for the "modifier keys" and right-click menu items to work.

  • Go!Zilla's clipboard monitor
The Clipboard monitor is quite easy to use with any browser:
Enable the clipboard monitor from the "Web Browsers" page of Go!Zilla's configuration.
Within Internet Explorer (or ANY browser) right-click a link and select "Copy Link Location" to send the download to Go!Zilla.
Advantages: Works the same on almost every browser.
Disadvantages: Requires an extra click before the download begins.

Both of these Internet Explorer click monitoring methods can be used together.
